Budget Travel
'Budget travel' is one of the most-abused phrases on the internet. Every blog 'doing Europe on a budget' has hidden five-figure family money behind the math. We don't have any of that hidden money, so the numbers we publish are real.
Our trips average $50-90/day for two people including lodging, transit, and food. Iceland was an outlier we'll explain. South America was the cheapest. Western Europe is doable if you know what you're doing.
What you'll find here: real ledgers from real trips. Flight strategy that still works in 2026 (most pre-pandemic 'hacks' don't). Hostel vs budget-hotel comparison post-COVID. The grocery-and-cooler eating system that cuts food spend in half.
We don't recommend MLM travel scams, 'free trip' click-funnels, or any product that pays affiliate before delivering value. We've turned down sponsorships from three booking sites whose pricing got too gamified.
If you have a number — a number you'd be willing to spend on a trip — we probably have a piece on what it actually buys you.
